Sorry for the late reply. The anime deviates from the manga in several places, for example: a character that's single in the anime has a girlfriend who lives in another country, which creates some angst. Also, the manga is a bit darker and has more examples of sexual harrassment/assault/narrowly avoided assault/stalking. Like in the anime, there are some instances where it's used for humor, but there are also a couple instances that break your heart a little bit. I'd suggest reading it from the beginning so you can compare and contrast.
