They may think that he is proud that his fiancé is so talented and qualified to be his wife and the future queen. We know he doesn't like her because we know her past-future and their interactions, but the characters as the King and the aunt don't know that yet and think that he's an arrogant kid whose nose grows with every complement.
They should stop comparing her to him .... hes gonna hate her more... they know the prince's personality ...why that aunt still need to mention and compare them ... tsk
