I can't speak for everyone, but I think there are people withholding judgement until we learn what happened to Anton's mother and their relationship, and what really changed Klaus. As of chapter 29, we’re not done Klaus’s flashback arc yet.
Some people think that Klaus may be behaving the way he is presently (having sex with Arwin after Cyrene told him about Anton and Arwin's relationship...) because he doesn't want Anton to walk down the same path.
Also, it seems the standards in this society are different. I don't think you should have sex with individuals who are still developing like Arwin was during his first time, but sadly, if not for Klaus, someone else would have won that auction and would have had sex with Arwin instead.... :/ Arwin did say he's considered the Cyrene Salon's number one prostitute because of Klaus, and that prostitutes do have a better reputation in general based on their customers. So, I get the impression that Arwin gets treated better at the Cyrene Salon, compared to let's say Heath, due to Arwin bringing in more customers. In that sense, Klaus may be helping Arwin.
Personally, I think the Cyrene Salon needs to be closed LOL. If that won't happen, I do want to see Anton get Arwin out of there! I'm curious as to why Klaus hasn't helped get Arwin out, but again, there's a lot we still don't know... :/
i see you’re point. and i liked how you added facts, so thank you!
but (his name is cyrene, right?) what i can’t stand is that his anton as far as i know, doesn’t even know that. like imagine being punished for something that has nothing to do with you ya know?
and i don’t see anyone withholding judgment. they literally just skimmed over everything and are solely focused on cyrene being attractive. as if he didn’t just sleep with a kid but if it was anyone else, i’m sure they’d be disgusted.
Wow, thanks for acknowledging my comment! :)
There are readers who don't comment, so I think there are some quiet folks who are withholding judgement. And Anton's father's name is Klaus. :)) Cyrene is the manager of the Cyrene Salon, and we saw her have sex with Nick in chapter 22. We don't know what Cyrene's motive was for telling Klaus about Arwin and Anton's relationship though... :/
Klaus hasn't told Anton anything about his mother, which we may learn about as well. Some people may think Klaus despises his wife, but he actually loves her dearly from what we have seen so far, and he still has an empty room with her portrait in it... ;/ Arwin said he thinks Klaus must love Anton's mother dearly, since Klaus refuses to remarry even though the Arnault family would love for him to have another candidate for heir. It's unsaid, but we know the Arnault family would rather have a 'pure' aristocrat be their heir after Klaus, than Anton who's half-"gypsy" :/ Anton thinks that Klaus may hate him for being the cause of Mrs. Arnault's death, which may or may not be true.
I think regarding tough love, parents don't always explain to their children that they're thinking for that said child's best interests. There is an assumption that the child will know what their parent(s) have done for them, after the results come, which may even take years to realize.
I can't speak for everyone again, but I do know that we may focus on one thing in one comment. I could make a comment today on how attractive Klaus is, and still know that he's cold in the present-day. Sadly, there are handsome bastards in the world, and Klaus is one of them in this story :/ As of chapter 29, we can gather that Klaus is a jerk because of the way the Arnault family treated him, by abandoning him and not accepting his marriage. It doesn't seem that Klaus was innately a jerk though.
Of course, Klaus's behaviour can't be justified as being right, but his backstory allows us to understand him better, instead of simply labeling him as a monster.
did i really read this long ass comment? lol. you made some good points though.
it’s definitely opened my eyes. i agree with tough love though. i’m not a parent but i’m all for teaching your kids that nothing is gonna go your way and the world isn’t as great as it may look on the outside. klaus needs MAJOR character development for me to like him. and we haven’t reached that point yet.
I will assume that you're impressed with yourself for reading my comment xD And thanks for acknowledging that I made good points. :)
Did my comment open your eyes regarding tough love? As of chapter 30, we can see that Klaus never expected the events following his marriage to occur (being abandoned by the Arnault family, Klaus's wife leaving him...); Klaus never knew how important it was to have power because he grew up with it. Klaus learned the hard way that power is not guaranteed, and he needs to make the effort to maintain it, in order to have or keep what he wants. :/ I don't know how Klaus could have convinced his family to accept his wife, but from what we see so far, Klaus's lack of power contributed to his wife's sadness and her leaving.
We definitely see the parallel between Anton and younger-Klaus. Both are naive when they have power and they don't think of how anything can backfire. Maybe they're both awfully confident. The caption for this story, "Like father, like son" is accurate.
I think Studio Stellas portrayed good storytelling for you to not like Klaus. Studio Stellas is portraying that Klaus is a product of his environment. It's honestly sad to see Klaus's development from a naive, sheltered rich boy to a devoted lover and family man, and then someone bitter and so unhappy... :( Yet, even in the present, Klaus still seems smaller and fragile when he looked at his wife's portrait and he felt her arms embracing him again. I don't know if positive change is possible for Klaus, because when he lost his wife, he lost his whole world in a sense; he lost what was most important to him.

the dad married a girl he wasn’t supposed to yET LOOKS DOWN ON HIS SON BECAUSE HE’S IN LOVE WITH A SEX WORKER?
it sucks that his woman left him but that’s no excuse to sleep with a child, treat your son like shit, and sleep with the guy you KNOW he’s in love with.
dude. and the fact that people are overlooking this simply because he’s attractive? THE MAN SLEPT WITH A KID. but i guess it doesn’t matter because he’s a dilf, huh?
