I always liked him too. I like the boy's attitude also. Even if the guy is a freak, he's still treated him well. The boy probably feels like a freak himself. Which is why the boy wants to get to know him better.
The only reason I'm still reserving my judgment for blondie - whether I definitively like or hate him - is because the author has given him an official ship or partner. I dunno if he'll have his own arc in the future but if the author has given him attention and a proper love interest, that means the author cares for him and wants him to be happy. So maybe blondie isn't really so bad as he's made out to be? Or maybe he'll be better in the future?
Plus he does give great advices...
