We know this is fiction so his actions are ignored for the most part. But playboy characters like Adam are my least favorite. They causally do what they want all while spouting their love for their love interest and of course prevent anyone else from coming in between them and their desired “object”. However they feel free to live out their vices usually with the intention of making it glaringly visible to their crush. It’s honeslty such a gross double standard because usually in the end they’re rewarded for their underminded efforts with their love interest eventually chasing after them, while they did nothing to encourage an actual equal footed romantic relationship.i man ffs he bragged about raping an entire prison and routinely now at this point make propositions towards the Queen his cousin the guy doesn’t even remotely deserve Joel but we’re expected to encourage their union because Joel is the typical tsundere character who doesn’t know what he wants except a promiscuous man who doesn’t respect him but thinks of more of shiny object he need to posse all the more because he resists him. I know they’ll end up together and honestly Adam is a single man free to do whatever he wants but could you imagine ever falling for a guy like that in real who’s so invested in pleasure seeking to the point that it literally defines him?
I see a lot of people defending Adam saying that he is an independent man who has the right to sleep with whomever he wants and is not in the wrong for moving on and trying to sleep with the Queen. I would agree with this people if Adam was really trying to move on but its so obvious he isn't. Like if he really want to have sex with her he would choose a more private room but instead he chose Joel's office, HIS OFFICE, where he knew he would eventually come to change out of his clothes. Its so obvious that Adam's intent is to make Joel jealous, if he really did want to move on people wouldn't be so - displeased (?)- with his actions. Disclaimer- i do not hate Adam nor do am i mad at his actions, i am just tried of this Push and pull trope i see alot in this genre.
