Is it just me or is the mood that the manga gives off way too different from the mood the novel gives us. The novel is great at making you feel exactly how lonely and fragile Violette was, and how heartbreaking it was when she was trying to attain her own happiness in her past life. And it really hurt reading her second chance and how you really felt how she's given up on ever attaining happiness in this life. In the manga, she makes every decision so carelessly like a happy afterthought and she still seems so lively and not like she's just drifting by until she can finally become a nun. I feel like it won't be as impactful to see her finally get her chance at happiness in the manga because she doesn't start off as a girl who has given up all hope at ever reaching it. The only scene in the manga that has made me anywhere near as emotional as in the novel is when her father wrongfully confronted her about what happened to Maryjun at the tea party because of how much of a terrible father he is for seeing his daughter who he's never cared for as a villain with absolutely nothing pointing at Violette being the culprit besides what he himself brought to the family. Fuck him!

i really want to see her father's reaction to her cutting ties with him and joining a monastery with no prior notice. Like she just packs up and leaves and doesn't tell anyone but her maid to say goodbye and her father doesn't find out till later. I want to know if he'd decide "good riddance" and not care at all, or feel guilt because he realizes he was never there for her as she was growing up and has never been a good father to her. I know i'll never get to see this bc she'll probably get influenced to change her mind and be happy, but I really wish I could see that.

Hm, after reading the comments I'll read the light novel instead. It was pretty weird with the pacing of how she starved herself to exhaustion/death(?) Then boom she's in the past. Everything after that seemed to move in fast-foward, but it did get me interested in finding out more. That father scene in chapter 1 really pissed me off though lol. Well off to search for this LN.

came back across this and can confidently say he would not care at all. he would not give a single fuck about her after she left and would probably forget she existed as soon as she walked out the door. that's how shitty of a father he is.
