Seems more believable than apparently good guy Ein sexually assaulting Diesel who he knows is in a relationship and a victim of sexual abuse. It might also have helped to explain WHY Yanek got so close to Ein, as at the moment their very close relationship seems a bit improbable, and we have been given no context as to what led to Yanek trusting a snake like Ein so much.

They were giving an alternative plot, where Ein and Yanek are the couple. Whether they become a couple in the current timeline is irrelevant, but it would make more sense for Ein to be shown together with Yanek, as a way of abusing his authority to gain evidence (as irl some corrupt officers do and end up being charged with rape). Why would Yanek completely let his guard down and trust Ein, tell him about his work etc and have Ein involved in it? Would he really do this for a mere friend, a mere local shop owner he buys his fish from?
He could have been cremated though. If not, how much would a body decomposed in 2 years I wonder. Would it be just bones? Hmmm...
