Shinobu is snake, and towards VB he falls for him from beginning! And the reason he ran away from his feeling because he's terrified! As if he saw his own reflections from VB! Him and VB has massive similarity as child that wasn't been favours by their parents( i'm not talking about Karen here, but shinobu's father/ the head of madarame/makio's father ). Furthermore VB able to see his hidden part as clear as a mirror, his inferiority,his dissatisfactions and such..that he had been managed to hide it to the deepest him!
He hates the fact that someone discover his 'sore-spot' ,his weakness. And his pride do not allowed him to addmitted his true feelings, that's why he contradicting himself by sleeping with that caretaker.

I can try answering some of your questions. I was as confused as you the first few times I read Shinobu and VB's story, but in the newest chapters, some of the doubts were clarified. If a have to guest why Shinobu choose Canarino as his first time, it was because he felt inferior and weak in front of VB, imagine that all the other members of the Madarame family are really powerful, twisted and cold, and he just doesn't fit with them, that is why he needed the experience to be an equal to VB (or that is what he was trying to achieve anyway). And the reason why he tried to kill VB, I was totally lost about this one, but I believe that he tried to kill him and then commit suicide, it is stated that Makio had to "revive" the two of them after what Shinobu did, the reason probably is because he knew they couldn't be together even if they love each other, VB is a mermaid, the rarest species and the one in charge to lead everyone else, on the other hand, Shinobu is the bastard child of the Madarame nothing else. Finally, I'm not sure about Shinobu species, I was wondering about it, because in the latest chapter when Shinobu said farewell to VB, his eyes were kind of infested, and VB is constantly saying that he is trying to save Shinobu from the darkness, at first I thought it was from the influence of the Madarame family, but maybe is something else, something darker, but trying to guest Shinobu's soul appearance from Karen at least he should be a cat, from his father it could be a snake, but we are not sure about it.

Ok somebody please explain to me the story between Shinobu and VB. I've read this series 5x and I still don't get it.
First of all, what is Shinobu? Never seen him transform or show any signs of having a maradui soul. He's born from a weird triangle relationship, Karen slept with his father who's basically the old head of Maradame, which makes him and Makio half siblings. At the same time, Karen slept with Makio and gave birth to Manaki, which makes Manaki and Shinobu half brothers.
Next, why did he try to kill VB back then at the mansion when he found out he had to leave? Also, why did he give his first time to VB's other careftaker (black haired guy)? Clearly Shinobu is in love with VB, but I don't understand why he's trying so hard to deny/run away from it.
Ok that's a lot. But next time this thing has an update (10000000 years from now), I hope somebody is able to answer these questions.
Also, I couldn't give two shits about the new high school couples (Manaki's friends). Their stories seem so unnecessary given how much is still going on between our main couples. If anything, I'd accept a story about Hidekuni and his mate, otherwise just go back and give us closure on the other couples that we care about.
