You're right. In the later chapters(spoilers)Yuugo will disagree with Shingo's ambition, and then Shingo kills him which causes Makoto to mutate even more, but manges to return to his old self after biting Keigo's arm because he was protecting Shingo.
The newly "resurected" father would be angry towards shingo bcs he endangered, even killed, his sons and then he turns his back and fights shingo or smth around that.
Also, how naive are those researchers to just believe that their works were for something good? Like, hello, in this capitalist world? Not a chance. Everybody got secret, most of the time shady, agendas.
