I hate when my mother does that. Honestly it’s a cheap attempt at emotional manipulation and it’s very hurtful. I don’t think it’s normal even if it feels like that for you, but perhaps it’s wise that you work that out on your own and your mother.

I think the reason ppl are saying it's normal is bc it's common in asia. I live in an Asian family so ik lol. Like that shits passed down, my grandma says it to my mom then she says it to me. It's only right to pass down the tradition. it's hurtful but that's the point, so u won't fuck up so badly next time.
