Ollie is really problematic but that doesn’t change the fact that John’s dad hit him HARD leaving him with awful bruises. With a father like this + a friend with such a bad influence like Ollie, it’s no wonder john became the way he is. Also, at the early chapter, john’s dad almost strangle him in the police station AND in front of everybody, meaning that him hitting john is still happening, john was also scared knowing he was coming. The violence john grow up with made him do the same.. i think, but this is still not an excuse for their behavior (sorry for my enflish)
How can he say, "I made John who he is" this guy will only feel pleasure as long as people around him are and STAY miserable.
So, the problem here isn't John's dad. In fact, it could appear that the one at fault is Ollie. He even said it himself.
Just how much lower can you get? He dares to raise his hand against her! He doesn't like to hear the truth.
