It's possible. And everyone heals differently. I had a really huge scar down my thigh and it happened such that i couldn't get medical attention to it fast enough so the wound had to be open and hence it left a huge bumpy scar. But after two years, I can say that I've seen the bumpy part go from pitch black to the colour of my normal skin and slowly become the same. It's hardly noticable now. But I've seen other people with wounds less deep but scars that just don't fade. Also there are many people who prefer to tattoo over it. And tattooing on the face to hide scars isn't that uncommon now.
