Why doesn´t he use his guide book?

    Chapter 2, page 6. He flings it up in the air and we haven't seen it since. So I think he's not using it because it's rotting in some field somewhere.
    Or if he did pick it back up he's forgotten he has it. Really, with this MC it could be either...
