After learning about what titans are and about the 9 Titans of Ymir I just kinda laugh 'cause even if they killed Eren who was the supposed "last titan" there'd just be born another human who would inherit that ability. Or at least from what I remember from the series. It makes sense since Eren Kruger and Grisha both called it the "Curse of Ymir." You can't ever get rid of it. The same goes for any of the other 9 Titans as well. So them executing Eren was pretty fruitless. Now they get to take a gamble on what kind of person will inherit the Attack Titan's powers.
