Seriously this reaction time...

I read this yesterday and didn't pay much attention to the bamboo rat's name. I didn't really get the reaction "Ou Yixi, is that his real name?" (page 4). But when I read it again out loud, I was like: Σ(っ°Д °;)っ doesn't that sound like a Japanese word meaning that someting is tasty? Seriously, me and my reaction time… ╥﹏╥ And for this alone, I'm sticking to this one to see what happens. (๑•ㅂ•)و✧

Not sure if I'm correct but I think that this webcomic is Chinese not Japanese, so the names are in Chinese too. In Chinese they use the "X" sound but Japanese don't have "X" sound in their alphabet. Also Chinese firstnames named are normally split into 2 words in English (Not sure in this case if it's their full name or just firstname) but Japanese names normally one word.

Thank you for the explanation. This webcomic is Chinese, there is not doubt about it. I'm also not an expert in the languages and I would've never thought to compare the naming method. I just mentioned the sound of his name when read together. From experience with both of the languages, since I work with Chinese people and watch a lot of Chinese dramas and Japanese anime (it's all proper and correct language), the Chinese "Xi" is usually spoken as a soft "Shi" of "Shie" so it sounds similar to Japanese soft "shi" in the word for "tasty" (ouiishi). So when our MC's name is read out loud it gives the same sound and the "tasty" word. I'm not comparing anything else but the sounds of the words.
