I didn't understand anything either. The plot and their characterizations are all over the place and contradicts itself and I literally cringed from the tropey things that's happening left and right.
Now im wondering why the high ratings

Mate, no offense, but the only way this story's misconception plot makes a bit more sense is if Shuu is:
a) (was) stoned up the wazoo his whole high school life.
b) Stupid af
c) The biggest drama queen
d) Bipolar
With bipolar being the least insulting to his character.
previous comments have mentioned this too–both mc's are unreliable narrators. which makes it kind of confusing, especially since most bl are never this complex, but interesting. i think if you go in with that in mind everything makes a lot more sense. anyway no need to get hostile, we're all here just to enjoy it.
