i don't think he was being cocky. being cocky means being arrogant and that's not what he was doing. he retorted because he was hurt-- as simple as that. it's not about being cocky. wth are you on about? and that follow up? the "yes you're right. i was on a blind date. she's a good person. too good for me perhaps." it was a confirmation. we know mr lee ain't a petty bitch when he still asks sunny if he's doing ok and he should take care of himself literally a chapter ago, man.
that 'she's a good person' though. i have a feeling he said that because he can't be lovers with the girl because he clearly has lingering feelings for someone else. i can imagine when they went on a date, she noticed he wasn't feeling it and told him it was okay and they don't have to date any further. it seems more in character to think that instead of thinking, 'yeah that's right i'm seeing someone else hAH she's way better than you'.
in truth, they're both fucking morons for hurting each other and not listening to the other. they'll fuck out the tension eventually. that's probably how they'll resolve it.
