I fully understand where Kaoru is coming from. Although, i don't believe in things like fate and soul mates, if i was put in this situation where this belief was embedded in me...I too would feel like shit knowing the one i love is meant to be with someone else.
If you think about it.... Kaoru is Asking/ Imploring Hara to LOVE him more than fate, more than his Destiny by keeping the string attached. It's like a constant affirmation to Kaoru of Hara's feelings for him, he's begging to be loved even though he doesn't think he deserves it.
It's heartbreaking and beautiful at the same time. Maybe it's not fair to Hara because he'll have fate constantly shoving this chick in his face over and over, but I kinda understand where Kaoru is coming from.
