I think it was something along the lines of protecting her. Even if she was a boy that existed to be beaten for amusement, it wasn't like they could legally kill him without concequences. If he was aiming to be emperor, he'd have to hide all of his weaknesses. Like it was a dumbass idea, but I can see how the author would reason it out.

Nope. Because now he created an even bigger problem for himself. He never thought she might want revenge? He's pretty 'stupid' if he thought she would wait around in the same place forever never knowing if he would show up one day to pull her out of there, all while being tortured, while he got to sit in his high chair being doted upon and never having to face the same kinds of obstacles that HE forced on others. If she hadn't been caught again after she escaped and he wasn't told she died he'd finally grow a brain and realize what a 'stupid' person he is. He didn't even care whether she was alive or dead when he asked brown haired pr!ck to look for her. But he might finally realize that her being dead is far better than her being tortured for BOTH of them. And he didn't protect her at ALL. He's trash that needs to be burned alive. Slowly.

His actions show how stupid he is and it can say that he will be a very bad emperor...
If he couldn't think for a moment of the consequences of what he did to the woman supposedly he love, then how can he rule a whole empire?!
The only reason I'm still reading this story is to see him pay for all his stupid actions and especially what he did to mc
