The drama series is more moderate, if the manga seems to brutal & violent. The actors really transformed the characters, stoic Ushijima contrasted with his awful table manners. The "kawaii game" played out has more emphasis... poor "slave kuns" have no chance.
A grittier manga, that showcases the different reasoning why people would go to, and get trapped by loan sharks. The drama series at the end, sort of gives the impression that Ushijima is having a conscience, when he hesitates in sending his old friend off to hard labour. But in the end, he leaves him, just as he did as a teen.
Ushijima has a room full of rabbits in this one, whereas it was only his childhood rabbit, looked after by the old friend, which has a bit more tragedy then.
