I don't think he really cared about the castle. After all, he wasn't interested in the deal when it was first proposed. I think he sold Bella because he was afraid that she was becoming his weakness. Selling her was the fastest and easiest way to get her away from him.
Why why why.. This story ended up making me sad.... More and more... I thought there would be strong reason for him to... Sell Bella but... Just for a castle WTF it broke my heart
