Well in my experience most dads dote on their daughter hence the catchfrase 'daddys little girl' in reverse, most mothers dote more on their sons, aka 'mommas boy'

Lol ofcourse I heard of it, that's like one of the first things you learn in school about ancient greece and greek mythology xD but funny thing is in Oedipus' case, he doesn't actually have an Oedipus complex because he never knew his real mom. He accidentally killed a stranger (the king of thebes) on a bridge somewhere where after he had to marry the queen of Thebes because he defeated the Sphinx. After disaster struck Thebes after their wedding and multiple children, the Oracle reveals he's actually the son of the king and queen who was given away at birth. The Oedipus complex however states that a man will always harbour romantic/sexual feelings to his mom because she is the first female being taking care of him or something(Freud is not my strongest point)
