According to spoilers from the novel she tells emeil how she feels, he turns her down, then goes away to his family to get a marquiss title without telling her, comes back, thinks she is dead, becomes a drunk, then they end up together. (Yes I'm dead serious that's why people are pissed at the emeil later on)
