I feel the same way and am also a girl. i analysis myself so my conclusions might not fit yours or anyone else thoughts but i think the reason why i like yaoi more than any other manga genre is because the characters are more relatable. In other genre especially shoujo the female characters are overly done, their either weak willed or overly strong willed to the point of annoyance. And the the relationships in yaoi just feel so much more balanced and real than shoujo. Also the drama in yaoi isn't as drawn out like it is in shoujo (These are just my random thoughts)
