What’s the meaning of bara?

It tends to refer to more manly men BL. E.g. more muscly, hairy etc.

Bara means it's written for gay men (typically by a male author) whereas yaoi/BL is normally written for a female audience (typically by a female author).
Bara as a genre is almost exclusively used to to describe porn since more plot heavy stories end up being sold as BL or under the LGBT label or something similar.
However, in the west bara can simply mean a BL with more manly characters who are actually gay.
