I also think she’s trying to get his help to break off her engagement with her current fiancé. I think it’s in a time where women’s engagements were decided by the family/fathers and they can’t break them off themselves so she’s going to ask this Duke dude for help.
But I totally get that. I wish we had more mangas that showed that women don’t need a man to help them get stuff done. She’s perfectly capable with getting the materials needed to create those potions with her abilities and if they changed the story a little to where she gets so strong she wouldn’t need a man to help her break off some engagement she could do it herself.
