Not like a 100% romance tho but there Is romance, like it builds but it's not completely the center of the story. It kinda helps him be centered on what he's doing and who are the important people in his life. There's some family related stuff kinda rushed but overall it's good af. It's not forced at all tho, in my opinion it's kinda smooth and it develops through the story.
Also, it doesn't ruin the plot.

So i haven't read the novel cause i read the webtoon first and i can say its rly good (so im sure the novel even better) but pls warn me.... is there any romance ahead????????
Cause i was reading solo leveling novel and i love it so much but after past ch200, they suddenly threw romance and i literally lost the will to continue i rly felt so betrayed. I dun hv against romance (heck i love reading shoujo and bl) but a FORCED and OOC romance in the middle of an exciting plot literally ruined the mood for me. I hope thats not the case with BATE
