I thought so at first too, but maybe that's just how Takao was raised. I mean I have a weird and unaffectionate family myself. I learnt a lot of things from my friends and books about relationship, so I understand him. It's hard to know by yourself that you can text your friends first without having a reason too.
I wanted Madoka to end up with Nagi. Felt like Nagi was taken for granted.... No one deserves to be taken for granted...
