Yes because anyone who threatens another country or especially the king will result in death, because she was royal regardless of wether she part of it or not all royals+maids+soldiers+witnesses must die just because they relate and work for the king, but the princess is another case because she is actually related to the king regardless of gender all royals still have a chance of re-proclaiming their kingdom or another kingdom thus being seen as a threat. I'm sure paulina(also relate to her) knew that she would be leaving a miserable life even if she was spared that why he ended her life cleanly, but unlike her at least our main lead can live free
