I think those last chapters are poorly written and it force the readers to make excuses for the main character if they don't want to admit it's just dumb.

I guess she reacted that way not because she didn’t know his past, but maybe because she wanted him open up. He never really said much about his past (which is understandable) she always heard it from other people. So I guess what she meant was that they so close, but at the same time kinda distant because he doesn’t open up to her. I don’t know... they’ve done so much and she probably thinks he doesn’t trust her or something. Ignore me, I might be wrong ( = • <> • = )
