So...

I read the translated chapters.

The MC is pretty cruel and hard-hearted in her own way. Some of her actions are pretty hard to take and sometimes you don't know who is more of a villain, her or her enemies (except the evil stepsister who remains awful to the end).

This is not a story where the MC learns to let go of her lust for vengeance and find inner peace by learning the power of forgiveness. She never forgives. Not even once. Cain changes after losing everything, but she still hates him for what he did in the other timeline and shows no mercy to the end.

I didn't even feel like she truly loved the Crown Prince (though I know many will disagree). Throughout the story Sarah, Annie, are all tools to her to help her achieve her revenge. She is kind to them, but when you know her inner thoughts as the reader you know all she is thinking is "What should I say to make them like me so they'll do my bidding?"

Ice cold.

On one hand this is refreshing and very different from most "born again" stories like this. She remains fixed on vengeance. She is almost the exact opposite of the MC in "The Abandoned Empress" who lets go of her grudge and fear from the other life.

In "The Abandoned Empress", the MC returns to the age of 12 after having her head cut off but remains terrified of the Crown Prince and determined to avoid marrying him at all costs. She does not come back wanting vengeance on him and Jieun. She mostly shrinks in fear of him, but slowly becomes less afraid of him as the story progresses and she lets go of the trauma of her previous life. She seems more regretful and sad than angry and hungry for revenge.

In this story, the MC comes back like a demon swearing, "I'LL SEND EVERY ONE OF YOU TO HELL FOR WHAT YOU DID TO ME!" and she keeps her word. She is like a dagger sent back to the past with one and only one purpose. She wants the Count and his whole family annihilated. And that is all. There is no scene where she learns to let go of her anger and bitterness. No, she keeps it close to her heart as she plots their destruction and implements that destruction.

The romance to me is second to the revenge. It's good, but understand that this isn't anything like The Abandoned Empress. This protag is ruthless in her goal and without mercy in her ends.

Thank you for the spoiler. Now I love this story even more after knowing that she is a complete monster of a villain. I have never come across a female MC villain, that is fully evil before. It’s usually only men that are allowed to be evil and women usually change to become forgiving. It was getting old anyways.

It feels so new to have an evil FMC. That makes it more interesting. Women who are forgiving and fall in love with the person who killed them in the past.. it’s everywhere so this is what I needed.
