I think it's because the comic is bad at showing us that there is only a 7 year gab. Emiels age was badly told to us so most don't seem to have registered, I know I didn't.

For me, it’s cool whether they both got together. I mean if we look at the time plot setting, the era is where one could get married despite the huge gap especially for the nobles right? ╮(￣▽￣)╭
Oooh, that's a good point. He really didn't seem like "youth," when she was little, he seemed like a reasonably experienced man of at least mid-20s in age (he seems about the same age now!).
I think, unless it's shown really well, it's hard for some people to imagine how an older character changes from seeing someone as a little kid to seeing them as a grown-up and romantic interest - and, therefore, the idea of romantic feelings forming while still seeing them as a kid is what puts a lot of people off, too.
If I'm not wrong, Emiels age was told when she was little (I read it again not too long ago since I liked the story) and if I'm not wrong he was something like 18 when they adopted her...
He was 16-18 at the start
I don't understand the hate on the age gap like it's just 7 years my parents have an age gap of 10 years
