Cuz he wanna lock Aria up in the mansion when he become the temporary Count because he wants Aria only for himself. And he also collaborated with Mielle to push the Count off the stairs so he can replace his father quickly before Aria coming of age and married off the Crown Prince like dudeee he’s your father but due to his lust for Aria, he’s willing to do it. Such a disgusting person.

But he is like, you know. He felt guilty after all. Especially after he was 'saved' by Aria when they were supposed to be beheaded. He was actually grateful and doing his best to support his father, right? He has a high pride, but is willing to be a pageboy in the imperial palace for his father because he felt guilty for taking part

No, it's not Cain. The main villain is still Mielle. But he was tempted by Mielle's proposal because he fell for Aria. In the end, he felt guilty, but Mielle doesn't even feel guilty about trying to kill their father.
