relatively better? i mean... they kinda confessed to each other, finally, so at least theres that. and they also both confirmed theyre actually going out. but also, even the side characters acknowledge how weird and undeserving kanou was of ayase's affection... for some reason, kanou's gone a bit soft?! i just binged the last few volumes tonight and the last time i read this was years ago and my memory of kanou was that of scary unyielding beast. very different from how he is now. ayase, for the most part, is still a dumb pushover loved by everyone (including me, i love him so much). i do think he's on the road to growing a sturdier backbone. theres a bit more confidence there after the whole confession thing
