It does seem to be a repeating story set up in many 'romance' mangas. Just keep searching for your perfect manga. Remember it is all a matter of preference, this author seems to like having their characters react like that.

this was ridiculous! the characters reacted in the most unnatural way. They were not convincing at all. Akiyuki was just like, hey dude you raped and kidnapped me. I think I will just willingly stay at your house and take care of you, o wait you are an assassin? thats cool bro.
