I guess in a way she kinda is? They mentioned a sickness people get when they wait too long to be with their soulmate. Elzay is literally trying to defy her mark and make it disappear. She doesn't want it if it's not with Aseph and so it's basically killing her and making her weak as a baby :T (My thoughts not a spoiler since it's just what i assume XD)
