I believe he was really hungry that's why he went with her (and maybe he thought she was nice, since she was smiling prettily) & I also think he's mute, he's just moving his head and hands and seems to be that he's not able to articulate a word (from what I can see).
I also check out the RAWs so I have another theory, but I will not tell you about it, I don't want to spoil you, haha (￣∇￣")
