This mangaka has a ton of original works now but this was published 2012 so it was probably just a means to get their name out there before getting a real publisher.

This story, tone, and art have almost nothing to do with Gintama in any way, so why make it a DJ nd not just change the characters names and make it its own series? It’s such high quality, it definitely could stand on its own... I just don’t understand at all ┑(￣Д ￣)┍
