It’s a more mature love story, it may seem like cheating but my opinion is that it wasn’t.

They weren’t officially dating when the “cheating” happened and nothing serious happened from it, they stopped. Personally, I hate cheating and unhealthy relationships but I liked this story. Give it a try :)
