I kinda wish she joined the brim hats. While both groups are shady, I don’t like how hypocritical and restricting the pointy hats high ranking officials are (knights?), like they don’t even bother to listen, and just jump straight to threatening to erasing your memory or doing so right off the bat. I also don’t like how they look down on non magicians, like, you’re no better. You were just lucky enough to be born into a witch family. I don’t like the brim hat’s methods, but I can sympathize with them more, and understand them. I think there should be less restrictions on magic, (like, you can only use it on others with their consent...) and it should be available to regular people too. I think it’s really unfair the way they only let people born to witch families use it, but then they say how it’s for everyone’s safety that only those know it who are suited. But it’s clear, not all people born to witches are good. Magic isn’t just for witches, it’s something anyone can use. They took that away from them, and they had no right to do so. Any magic can be used for bad and good. Magic isn’t inherently evil, it’s what you use it for that decides it. So many people could’ve been saved if only they weren’t so selfish. And banning ancient healing magic because someone used it for evil deeds? Just use it for healing then, supervise it more strictly. There’s so many better options for dealing with the rules.
Sorry for the rant, lol.

Also, I don’t really appreciate Agathe. Typical rude tsundere.

I'm pretty sure the whole point of this story is you're not suppose to like either group. The groups are polar opposite extremists. One group wants to restrict everything and has way too much control, to the point where they are crippling their craft and their people. The other group believes there should be no limitations and thus thinks it's far game to force innocent people to their side by introducing them to dangerous magic without their consent. Both groups are toxic AF and the main characters are stuck between them just trying to live life and enjoy magic. The only way this story is going to have a happy ending is if both groups are abolished and a new system is established that is somewhere in the middle of the two extremes.

And I agree about not liking Agathe. Too often is 'tsundere' used as an excuse to make a rude character that can't express themselves with the excuse that they really do care deep down. Sure they do, but that doesn't change the fact that by not saying what they mean they put the burden on the other characters to figure out what they are really thinking. Which is kinda selfish, in my opinion.
