
I think the reason they use it as a plot device is because its really about the divide between people who can sleep with women and people who can't. For some, it will be a much easier and perhaps more happy life if they can follow the accepted norms in their society. They can possibly back out and decide to go with a woman and since a gay man could not, its understandable why the gay one would be insecure or unwilling to commit. That's the most common use of trope imo. In other cases, im sure they're just scared or unwilling to accept of the possisbility of their own gayness. I cant speak for this manga specifically though, im here in the comments to find out whether this manga has 3p... i prefer my yaoi without it
Man, I'm sick of this ”I’m not gay” or ”I’m straight, but I'm fine with you” thing. It's like this in every damn manga
