Lol nah I think you just got confused with the speculations since everybody speculated that the kid who stole was sensei. It took way too long for them to go more into detail of what happened back then.
It was the kid named Brian(?), the one who said than Ren “doesn’t like anyone” and “he will be hated.” I think he also died along with Kodaka-sensei’s brother.
