The doctor wasn't already dead, powderpuff sent the perverted blond dudes with the compass out to kill the doctor, so he could say to Kane that the doctor is dead.

So basically sid use the compass to try to find the doctor but the doctor was already dead and he kept the compass and the dude with all the scratches and the glasses knows about it and he knows that Sid is betraying Kane
