And he then proceded to rape her "look-alike", only becoming decent when he realized that she was the "real" Bella after all... His true nature is that of a jerk. How can he be the end game? Even if he risk his life to save her later on it is way too late for the story to make sense. Them being end-game can only be a bad end or a presentation of a toxic and twisted relashionship. If the author is making it a "love story" then I am very concerned with his perception of life.
I just started thinking she had a mind fart somewhere and parts of her ability to think and judge those who tormented her just warped. She doesn't even go for revenge against the people who hurt her as a slave from what I have seen. No matter the level of abuse you think she would have multiple people to have resentment towards but she seems to have become numb to that kind of thinking. He basically caused her to mentally break in some kind of way, I think.
