The mom foresaw that no matter how much anyone tried, Pryde was destined to be a terrible and despicable person, and she felt terrible that she had to choose between acting as a mother; providing unconditional love, or acting as a queen; preparing for the true successor that she foresaw. She's absolutely distraught over this. Pryde's father chose to give unconditional love even though it was his downfall in the original game and Pryde's mother chose to ensure the future of her kingdom. I don't blame her for it. Y'all saw how the 'last boss villain, Pryde' is: she unnecessarily tricked Stayle into a slave contract and then commanded him to kill his own mother. Pryde's mother didn't think she can change that.
When Pryde's father tells her mother of how Pryde has changed ever since she's gotten the ability, she's was cautious at first because they both knew that 'villain Pryde' is a selfish, despicable girl who might be acting. But when she meets Pryde in person, and sees how she's changed, she's so relieved, proud and overjoyed, so much so that she wants to spoil her rotten. But she's scared that if she spoils her she might revert back. She does love Pryde, and she feels remorseful that she hasn't been a proper mother to her.
Later on, she tries to be in Pryde's life more.
