I think that she might actually be the grand Duke and Duchess's child, because the Grand Duchess said she wanted to adopt a girl with red eyes, like maybe she's seen or gave birth to a girl with red eyes.

That is very possible. But I believe it will be mostly because of Iris’s red eyes since it’s only her and Grand Duke who have it.
So it seems that Iris is the princess because of her “uncle” said that she is not the blood related to mesala family so which means her mom had an affair with someone else like Grand Duke? He has a red eyes too. I believe that Iris’s the first option of god mother is the empress Iyza because she can’t bear children and she looks wonderful person.
