I always feel like the norm for yaoi is the uke staying at home just having sex with the seme, and the seme being capable while being head over heels for the uke. does anyone know yaois where the seme and uke are both capable and have their own lives while being mutually in love with each other? I get annoyed when the seme just handles every single thing for the uke and the uke just waits at home doing nothing.

eg. paid by fujoking, the sex is great but im a bit sad that taekyung just shelters heejae when he's capable. I feel like even though heejae has amnesia he would still have some independence but instead it feels like he's just at home to be dumb and airheaded. don't get me wrong-- I love gentle ukes but I want them to have a life of their own TT

eg itadakimasu gochisou sama: uke is gentle but has a restaurant and is a good cook,

a shoujo example: suit no sukima: fl has her own worklife and doesnt daydream about ml all day.

another example is cherry blossoms after winter-- haebom is so cute in sex ofc, but outside of it he doesn't have much of a life to speak of. taesung takes care of everything and haebom is just there to be babied and pampered. ofc I love it when the seme is very considerate like in on or off, but you get the idea orz

here are some 'equals' manga that I enjoyed:

    hoshi to harinezumi
    saishuu densha
    zanzou slow motion
    tasogare outfocus
    tight rope
    hanakoi tsurane
    sugar my baby
    shitasaki no yoake aji
koi wo suru tsumori wa nakatta
    kanawanu koi no musubikata
    shinobeba koi

I also have this problem with ousama to puppy love--
    although the seme treats the uke well, I feel like he's treated as a delicate prize, he's trasured so to say, but he doesn't think for himself. the seme just comes to save the day for him and pamper him ;_;

    I agree with you.
Sadly, this can be explained by the sexism in our society - because the uke role is associated with « a feminine » one... so it comes with its clichés too #-.-)

I am bad at remembering works according to certain criteria but here some recs that should be fine :

    http://www.mangago.zone/read-manga/old_fashioned_cupcake/
http://www.mangago.zone/read-manga/madman_combo/ (In this one uke has an independent spirit)
    http://www.mangago.zone/read-manga/nichijou_climax/ (Quite realistic gay relationship)

I advise you to go for manga / webtoon that show more of a « realistic gay relationship » because couple in real life don’t have « definite roles » like in mangas (even the idea of a definite uke and seme is not realistic by the way). These kind of couple feel more equals
