they are that typical person who goes "ugh they are so happy all the time! I hate it! they must be toxic like me. bitter like me" so annoying, have more self confidence
I think they hate her because in the novel, jeanette is different from this manga, her emotions to athy are portrayed as:" if I cant be happy she cant be happy to"

Not once that she throws shade on Athy nor try to replace her. She genuinely likes her and think of her as her sister. It’s not like family has to be consist of two people? Can’t it just be three? And yes she has a family who raised her but they keep telling her they’re not the relatives and that her father is Claude since a very young age. She growing up hoping that one day she will finally meets her father and her sister(which the duke keep telling her about). She patiently wait. She didn’t do anything. She visit the palace because Claude call for her not that she just walk in there. Other than that she just wait and wait in the duke’s house. I can’t see any action that are act out of her will. She just do what the adults said. If you argue that she should be more considerate and think about Claude and Athey well being. SHE JUST A CHILD. How can she thinks about those thing.
