i forgot to add, im only saying this because i do like this manga, and i appreciate it for its entertainment. I do like the main characters, i dislike their flaws, and i dont like yanagi. I also like ichika. This is the way the author set the audience up with the portrayal of the characters, and i am just fine with going where the plot takes me. It's just like how in some mangas, a bad guy will actually turn out to be a good guy, and the readers will switch from disliking him to liking him. That's just how its meant to be
i don't understand why people are complaining? Like okay, let's say that the author "ruined" the story. First of all, it's the author's story, they really can do whatever they want to with the story/characters. It's totally fine to dislike it, but I'm just saying....... if you don't like, don't read.
Okay, so their relationship is toxic. That's displayed in the uke's weakness for being completely unwilling to let yanagi know that he is NOT someone to be messed with. Now of course yanagi is at fault too - what kind of sick fuck is that pushy into trying to get a supposedly straight guy in bed with him?
That's meant to be a rhetorical question, but there's an obvious answer. The seme. The author tried very hard to portray the seme as The Good Guy, but in reality, he did the exact same thing in the beginning of the manga, and if that were to happen in real life, them being in a relationship in the present wouldn't hold up well in our metaphorical court.
So yes, this is a toxic relationship because it was built on the grounds of sexual assault, whether or not that hasn't happened again(up until now, of course).
Does that mean this is a bad manga in terms of entertainment? Let me remind the readers:
This is fiction. It is in no way a portrayal of real life, though there are aspects of every manga that are meant to be parallel to real life. So to answer that question, no, with all the drama and toxicity, that is what keeps mangas alive and what keeps authors writing, as long as there are viewers reading, which is what goes with every form of media. I really hope you guys understand what I'm saying? You, as a reader, are willingly reading this manga, therefore helping to push whatever stigma you believe comes with yaoi manga. (i personally don't believe there's much, because i've never seen a straight person, or any person for that matter, think that this is what a realistic gay couple is like.)
