True also another aspect that we must notice is that the reason why they make terrible decisions while navigating through their sexuality is because of lack of sex education or guidance from adults.
Most people in the comment section hate Shi. I get it, he lied about his age to have sex, he forced himself on Tamaki among many other objectionable things. But we are understanding this with our set of cultural and moral values. In Japan and many other countries teenagers (as young as 13) have the legal right to consent to sex (with reasonable restrictions). Shi can technically have had sex even if he mentioned he was a middle schooler. He didn't explicit lie about his age in the first place but benefited from being silent. Also, that just goes on to prove how desperate he was to make sense of his sexuality.
Tamaki on the other hand after watching the disastrous love life of his mom has a wrong understanding of sex. That took a toll on him. So in a way, this is a reflection of real world. We don't get proper sex education and that lack of information is dangerous.

Yes I completely agree even in America we get sex ed but even then it’s not very well explained, they don’t talk about different sexualities and stuff like prep and aftercare, sure they teach about condoms, birth control, stds and consent but it never talks about the safe environment of sex. But in Asia it’s much more conservative and some high schoolers don’t even learn about sex in school or have sex ed so yes about Shii learning about sex on his own and the internet and stuff and how Tamaki grew up thinking sex is a bad and hurtful thing bc no one decided to teach him is a failed way in our society unfortunately
This is so realistic, I feel like for any sexual orientation. They’re at an age where things like sexuality, love and lust is all confusing. At first I thought Shii really did love Tamaki but was being too forceful in his tactics, while that thought hasn’t changed I see where he’s coming from. Tamaki is within an arm’s reach but he still can’t get a grasp of him bc Tamaki is hiding away his true feelings and thoughts due to his past on thinking sex leads to the downfall of relationships and happiness. I hope he talks that out with Shii bc I don’t think Tamaki is asexual (also i don’t know why they said it as a no romantic feelings type thing when it means no sexual attraction) I think he is interested in the idea of sex but is scared to. Shii sees that but feels frustrated bc Tamaki is hiding that and acting like it’s a crime bc Shii doesn’t know his past, so all they really need is a long talk explaining both their sides and making a compromise
